Water Sustainability Project

The mandate of the Water Sustainability Project is to promote demand management for water as part of the larger goal of sustainable water management. Operating within the context of “governance for innovation,” the WSP team developed a comprehensive legal and policy framework for urban management, and detailed action plans for all three levels of government.

Since January 2003, the Water Sustainability Project (WSP) has been an initiative at the POLIS Project on Ecological Governance at the University of Victoria. In its work, the WSP team attempts to understand the structure and dynamics of urban water use, and to provide mechanisms to help re-orient Canadian water management practices from supply to demand-side approaches.
