Citizens' Values and the Canadian Social Architecture: Evidence from the Citizens' Dialogue on Canada's Future

This paper is one in a series of research reports published for the CPRN's Seeking Social Architecture for Canada's 21st Century project.

Social Capital as a Public Policy Tool

This report considers the many ways social capital affects Canadian citizens and the ways in which the government can support social capital through its policies. Specifically the report finds that in helping people who are at risk of social exclusion, people in key life-course transitions and communities that are promoting local development, the government is able to use social capital as a public policy tool. Finally suggestions are made as to how to most effectively develop social capital in a meaningful and useful way.
